Preliminary Project Planning

From our research, we have found most magazines aimed at students contain information about financial help and money saving techniques, this will influence our magazine as we know most students are on a budget.
Also, from our research, we know that a lot of students are fashion concious and therefore our magazine will contain affordable fashion on the latest trends.

Potential cover lines-
Competition
Affordable high-street fashion
Money savers for students
Latest movie releases
University weekly review

Fonts-
Sans serif
Serif
Italics
Bold

Designs for masthead-
Hot pink

Me and my partner had discussions on the picture boost and from that we have decided it is going to be modelled by Tom Baker, a happy, positive student who will promote the college positively. We also felt that our front cover should be inspirational to inspire students to be the best they can be, this will reflect our story lines and layout.

We hope to have our project completed by the 7th of October 2011.

We will be photographing Tom studying in the college grounds outside in the sun.

Preliminary Project Research and Planning

We found Heat magazine to be very effective for the student audience as it had Martin Lewis' weekly column on money saving for students, also it had competitions which gave readers a chance to win money and shopping trips which would both be useful and attractive for students. Furthermore, it is also up to date with new releases and movie reviews, students would like this as they like to keep up to date with the latest entertainment.

From our research into Cosomopolitan we found it would be appealing to students as it had affordable fashion, discount vouchers and beauty discounts as many students have a tight budget to spend. Also, it had links to social networking sites making it easily accessible.

This magazine would be useful to college students as it also had links to facebook and twitter which helps the students keep up to date , furthermore it also has many up coming student events and advice on jobs and how to create a prefect cv this would be handy as it would help them get a job.

From our research we have found most of the magazines are aimed at achievers who want to achieve different goals, aged between 16-19, they are also post-modernists who are still deciding what they want to do with their lives.
